Using Community Partners for Communication Course Group Projects

The TTUHSC Master in Public Health program added a writing and communication course to the curriculum in Fall 2017 to address community partner input that graduates needed better communication skills to be successful in the public health workforce. The culminating assignment in this course entailed a group project working with community partner organizations, who provided communication projects to the instructors (via a project request form) prior to the semester. The project provided a useful applied experience for students that required development of communication, writing, and leadership skills, as well as firsthand experience in public health practice.
