This 3-part series on Community-engaged Learning integrates engagement with external communities into coursework to deepen students’ academic learning and promote civic responsibility. It places emphasis on pedagogy that links academic study with community involvement to address community-identified needs through collaboratively organized educational experiences that strengthen communities, enhance student subject area learning, develop human capital, and seek transformation of all participants. Through this faculty training, participants will learn the principles and best practices of Community-engaged Learning, develop strategies for building reciprocal community partnerships, and explore methods for designing, implementing, and assessing high-impact community-engaged courses. Faculty will leave with practical tools, resources, and a clear roadmap for earning the CeL course designation while integrating meaningful community-engaged experiences that enhance student learning and create lasting community impact.
